Materfamilias

I'm a lot like my mom. I'm glad of that usually, but it has come out recently in an unexpected way since I've had a kid--I'm talking like her, and I don't just mean the classic "You are driving me up the wall!" -type comments. My mom had a lot of little phrases and names, and I've been thinking of them lately since I caught myself calling my daughter a "poky little puppy." Here are my recent mom-isms:
1. la-zee or la-zee may (I have no idea how that might be spelled)
2. honest to pete
3. criminy
4. sweet pea
5. home again home again, jiggety jog
6. bedtime for bonzo

Confessions of a Food Addict

I don't think there are many people in the world who love food the way that I do. I would rather eat food than have sex. Does this make me an addict? I watched a special on Oprah where these people would go into the kitchen and consume the entire contents of their refrigerators in one night, all while they were asleep. I sat there wondering, "what's the problem?"

No Body Tells You This Stuff

My girls are sick, flu, and after being vomited on last night by the "big one" (as my husband has so lovingly dubbed her) twice, I bathed, and clothed her twice, changed the bed sheets twice, and then bathed and clothed myself (you guessed it) twice, all while my husband slept soundly. So after the"little one" started, with a full bottle of some red crap I rummaged out of the fridge in her tummy, I didn't have any more gumption to clean her up, so I just threw some fresh towels over the puke and put her back to sleep. Don't you judge me!
